Khao Yai National Park
From Anantrapura, the park’s western entrance at Kaeng Hin Poeng is a 10 minute drive the main entrance towards Nakhon Nayok is a 60 minute drive. The park has 1,347 square miles (2,172 square kilometers) of forests, jungles and grassland the park covers five vegetation zones and is one of the few remaining intact monsoon forests in Asia.
The park is home to over 153 different species of animals, including wild elephants, black bears, tigers, leopards and barking deer as well as exotic birds. Sightings can never be guaranteed but a visit to the park offers numerous sightseeing opportunites.
In and around the park are some spectacular waterfalls during the wet season from from May through to November. The best known include Namtok Than Thip, Namtok Khao Ito, Namtok Takhro and Namtok Sompoi.
